Clear Creek Middle School kicked off its cross-country season at the War Eagle Invitational.
The 2-mile races were held Aug. 16 in Gainesville, and the Lady Cats placed fourth out of six teams, while the Bobcats were fifth in a boys field of seven.
Karenza Mathis (17:20.20, 8th) led the way for CCMS and was trailed by teammates Ryn Baldwin (17:58.80, 14th), Lakelyn Garrett (19:44.40, 23rd), Becca Heaslip (19:50.50, 24th), Anna Kate Heaslip (19:50.90, 25th), Scout Clinard (20:21.80, 27th), Ava West (20:43.70, 31st), Natalia Gonzalez-Santos (20:44.20, 32nd), Ava Zeman-Mullins (21:47.60, 41st), Kyra Little (21:57.30, 44th), Aria Lee (27:40.90, 61st), and Andrea Toledo (34:20.00, 65th).
For the Bobcats, Jackson Towns (14:14.10, 4th) was the No. 1 runner at the meet. Also clocking in times were Cole Jones (15:39.40, 20th), Carson Fowler (16:47.50, 32nd), Asher Kleczka (16:48.70, 33rd), Axel Carillon Godinez (16:52.70, 35th), Andrew Burgess (17:16.70, 38th), Keven Ramirez-Reymundo (17:28.00, 40th), Shep Oleksa (19:57.50, 57th), Bentley Stephens (20:23.30, 60th), and Gavyn Mesner (25:08.90, 74th).
CCMS returns to the trail Thursday at Meeks Park.
