Seven teams flocked to Ellijay for the Mountain Invitational.
Clear Creek Middle School hosted the annual track-and-field meet at Huff-Mosley Memorial Stadium last Saturday. The CCMS Bobcats claimed third in the boys standings and the Lady Cats were third.
Lady Cat Rosie Everett was No. 1 in the 100-meter dash at 13.27. She also went on to turn in a runner-up time of 1:03.90 in the 400 meters. Lady Cat Kaitlyn Bedwell won the pole vault at 6’, as did Bobcat Jaspar Barr with a mark of 6’ 6”. Also securing a runner-up time in the triple jump was Khiston Stanley with a leap of 27’ 1 1/5”.
The Lady Cats nabbed five third-place finishes in the 4x100 and 4x400 relays, as well as Shelly Ghorley in the shot put (30’ 6”) and Ella Schwarts in the 3,200 (13:10.94) and 1,600 (6:15.95).
For the Bobcats, they were third in the shot put with Peyton Hughes (34’ 9’), high jumper Stanley (4’ 8”) and Michael Sapp in the 100-meter hurdles at 17.83.
The 4x100 Bobcat relay team took fourth, as did Henry Cook (triple jump, 23’ 8”) and Ian Dantin (100 hurdles, 18.70). Landing in fifth were the 4x400 team and Jasper Wooten (triple jump, 21’ 8”), Sapp (100, 12.75) and Barr (400, 1:02.65).
Behind Red Bud (233 points) in the boys standings were Marietta (116), CCMS (82), Fideles Christian (75), Junior Hawks (39), Junior Wildcats (34) and Dawson County (22). Red Bud took first over Marietta in the girls standings as well, 146-141. They were followed by the Wild Cats (86), Dawson (80), CCMS (75), Fideles (52) and Hawks (25).
