Clear Creek track had a stellar day at the Junior Eagle invitational.
CCMS was in Commerce last Saturday, and the Lady Cats and Bobcats turned in their best-ever placements at the event. The Lady Cats’ day ended with 75 points, which was good enough for second behind Oak Hill. The Bobcats topped out at 85 points and finished third.
Bobcat Dawson Richard led the way in the discus, 800- and 1,600-meter runs. His throw of 121’ 11 1/2” eclipsed his previous discus school record. His time of 5:18.90 in the 1,600 meters was 41 seconds faster than second place, and he set the pace in the 800 with a time of 2:26.32.
Six Lady Cats placed in the top three, and Lilyan Cook secured a pair of top placements. She threw the discus 84’ 8 1/2’ and shot put 33’ for first.
Behind Cook in the discus was teammate Maddy Patterson with a throw of 70’ 8”. Ana Perez was a runner-up in the 3,200-meter run, as was Morgan Palmeri in the 1,600 at 6:39.16.
The 4x400 relay team of Emma Cagle, Palmeri, Alyssa Hughes and Rose Everett clocked in at 5:13.41 for third. CCMS was also third in the 4x800 where Lucina Farist, Jennifer Garcia, Belle Jones and Palmeri finished in 13:48.55.
Bobcat 3,200-meter runner Nelson Jacinto crossed the finish line in 13:00.22 for second. Placing third were Jett Burrell in the long jump (15’ 2 1/4”) and Braelyn Nelson in the triple jump (29’).
The Bobcat quartet of Burrell, Rylen Haley, Carlos Montes and Nelson secured third in the 4x400 at 4:34.95.
CCMS will host the Middle School Mountain Invitational Saturday at Huff-Mosley Memorial Stadium at 9 a.m.
