The Clear Creek Lady Cats recorded two more softball victories over league opponents. CCMS was at Pickens Aug. 28, and the Cats earned a 4-2 triumph. Clear Creek hosted Dawson County Sept. 4 and sent its eighth graders out with a 4-0 win.
Braley Stewart had another strong pitching performance and struck out 12 Dragonettes while giving up five hits and two walks in six innings. Lady Cat Neeyah McDaniel led CCMS offensively with two hits, which included a two-run double in the third inning.
CCMS recognized eighth graders Stewart, Brenlee Daniel, Mattie Jones, Kali McCardle, Jessie Wheeler, Abby Murillo and Jocelyn McCollum versus Dawson County.
“These girls are leaders in the field, and all contribute to the success we have experienced this season so far,” said head coach Tina McDaniel. “It is a privilege, and I count it a blessing to be able to coach such wonderful girls. They are respectful, and they truly love this game. They put the team first and work for each other. They are also outstanding students in the classroom and that is a top priority.”
Stewart had a dominant day once again on the mound with 12 more strikeouts. She allowed two hits over six innings and walked one.
Offensively, CCMS got RBI singles from Daniel, McDaniel and Murillo.
The B-team Lady Cats defeated Towns County Sept. 3 on the road, 13-4.
Maylee Bramlett collected three hits, which included a double and triple, and she drove in five runs in the Cats’ lopsided win. Sydney Dillard and Jaylin Duncan each had a pair of RBIs. Kensie Farmer belted three hits and one RBI, and McDaniel and Shay Vick drove in a run. Blair Whitaker added two hits to the Cats’ tally.
Katelyn Bedwell started and gave up two runs over one inning while striking out one and walking four. McKenly Holt allowed two hits and two runs in two innings, struck out two and walked two.
