The Clear Creek Middle School Lady Cats ran their way to a runner-up finish.
CCMS hosted the North Georgia Championships last Monday, and the Lady Cats were second behind Dawson County, 30-59.
A top-five placement was needed to score team points. Lady Cat Ella Schwartz crossed the finish line first for Clear Creek. She ran the 3.2K course in 15:40 for sixth place.
Next up was Morgan Palmieri inside the top 10 in eighth place (16:27). She was followed by teammates Xiaoxing Troxell (13th, 16:57), Jennifer Garcia (15th, 16:59), and Autumn Little (17th, 17:39).
Malley Blocker (32nd, 19:05) and Ava West (32nd, 19:24) were the Cats’ next finishers.
The top Bobcats in attendance were Willian Ramirez (fifth, 13:43), River Rayborn (15th, 14:28), Jeremy Martinez (17th, 14:32), Cole Jones (38th, 17:27), Nathan Grice (40th, 17:53), Clint Carver (41st, 17:53) and Asa Leigh (42nd, 19:44).
Lumpkin County won the boys race over White County, 26-50, and remaining teams included Fannin County (144), Dawson County (115), Union County (115) and CCMS (115).
Trailing Dawson and Clear Creek in the girls standings were Fannin (60), Lumpkin (103), White (123) and Union (144).
CCMS was in Canton Saturday for the Fleet Foot Warpath Invitational.
The annual meet was held at Boling Park, and the Lady Cats finished eighth out of 18 girls teams with 210 points. The Bobcats placed 16th (439 points) out of 21 boys teams.
The Lady Cats point scorers all finished within 18 places of each other. First up was Schwartz (34th, 14:26.5) and Troxell was next at 14:48.7 in 41st. Garcia (46th, 14:58.8), Palmieri (47th, 14:59.9) and Little (52nd, 15:04.8) followed.
Also completing the race were Blocker (83rd, 16:05), Ava West (103rd, 16:44.8), Lila Mullen (122nd, 17:28), Joei Marshall (123rd, 17:29.2) and Alie Morin (124th, 17:29.5).
Rayborn was the first Bobcat to finish the race, and he did so in 12:43.3 for 36th place. Ramirez landed in 62nd at 13:16.5, and Jones was next in 128th place in 14:28.20. Also scoring team points were Grice (138th place, 14:48.9) and Carver (147th, 15:01.50).
Next up were Shep Oleska (187th, 17:24.4), Leigh (188th, 17:32.2) and Gavyn Mesner (193rd, 18:16.9).
Taylor Road was the top boys team with 72 points, and North Hall clipped Lakeside for second, 139-142. Taylor Road also won the girls race over North Hall, 39-63, and Holy Innocents (130) rounded out the top three.
CCMS will attend the Wingfoot Classic Saturday in Cartersville
