Clear Creek met an old rival on the basketball court.
The CCMS Lady Cats hosted Fannin County last Monday, and the Lady Rebels notched two wins. Points were tough to come by for the seventh-grade Cats, who were held scoreless in two quarters and lost, 38-8.
The eighth-grade matchup was close for a half before Fannin pulled away for a 44-34 win.
Fannin’s seventh graders tallied 12 points in the opening quarter while CCMS could not get a shot to fall. Shay Vick scored five for the Cats in the second, and CCMS fell behind by 20 at the break.
The Cats were unable to score in the third as well as FCMS extended its lead to 27. Blair Whitaker added three points in the fourth for the Cats to close out Clear Creek’s scoring.
Four Cats scored in the first quarter of the eighth-grade game for a 12-6 CCMS lead. The Rebels got their offense going in the second and slipped ahead at the half, 26-23.
CCMS was limited to five points in the third and trailed 34-28 with a quarter to play. The Cats managed six more points as their comeback bid fell short.
Molly Hicks led the Cats with 10 points and was followed by Maylee Bramlett (eight), Lily Teague and Neeyah McDaniel (five) and McKenley Holt, Hadlee Banks and Shelly Grace Ghorley (two).
