A week after rain washed away all of their softball games, the Clear Creek Lady Cats were back on the field for two more league wins.
CCMS was at Fannin County last Monday and erupted for 14 runs over the final two innings to smother the Rebels, 16-3. Lumpkin County was in town the following day, and the Cats erased a three-run Indian lead in their final at-bat for a 5-4 victory.
Against Fannin, the Rebels’ seven errors led to nine unearned runs for the Cats. CCMS led 1-0 after the first inning and 2-1 following the third.
After Lily Teague was hit by a pitch to begin the fifth and McKenley Holt walked, Neeyah McDaniel gave CCMS a 5-1 edge with an inside-the-park home run. Maylee Bramlett’s single and Kensie Farmer’s walk kept the inning going, and a pair of FCMS errors plated two more CCMS runs.
Ahead 7-2, nine runs crossed home plate for the Cats in the sixth. FCMS committed a pair of errors while Teague tripled to start the inning and McDaniel knocked another three-run inside-the-park home run. Fannin aided the Cats’ cause with three walks and a hit batter, and Holt added Clear Creek’s 11th hit to the scoreboard.
Teague and Bramlett each had three hits while Holt and McDaniel added two apiece. McDaniel knocked in five runs on the day, Holt accounted for three and Teague drove in two.
Kaitlyn Bidwell pitched all six innings, struck out six, walked one and allowed an earned run off five hits.
Lumpkin scored all of its runs in the third inning Tuesday. A walk, single and bunt scored the first before another walk loaded the bases. A three-run single spotted LCHS a 4-0 lead.
Farmer got a run back for CCMS in the fourth with a two-out single to score Bramlett, who walked. In the fifth, the Cats completed their comeback.
Blair Whitaker, Sydney Dillard and Teague all walked to load the bases, and McDaniel’s single to left scored all three. Bramlett’s ensuing hit plated McDaniel to end the game in the Cats’ favor.
Bidwell secured a complete game victory and allowed four earned runs on three hits while walking four and striking out four.
