Clear Creek delivered another wrestling loss to a league opponent.
The Bobcats were in Union County last Thursday to take on the Panthers. Bonus points in nearly each win allowed the Cats to come away with a 60-24 victory.
“Union County may have a few holes in their lineup, but they are solid in several of the weight classes that they fill,” Clear Creek head coach Thomas Glanton noted. “Our guys came out a little flat early. We lost a couple of matches that could have easily gone the other way. Nonetheless, this was good mat time for our guys and a valuable lesson that you have to be tough, and give it your all when you are out there on the mat.”
Union forfeited to Bobcats Brantley Fain (75 pounds), Easton Addie (80), Juan Jacinto (175), Cade Garland (225) and Waylon Engler (275) to spot CCMS 30 points.
Clear Creek also secured four pins on the day by Chase Cantrell (85), Braelyn Nelson (105), Rylen Haley (165) and Fabian Lopez (205). Adolfo Bautista (125) and Madden Hopkins (155) both won by decision.
UCMS earned pins at 145 and 190, a major at 135, minor at 115 and tech at 95.
“Our plan moving forward is to continue working hard at practice and stay healthy,” Glanton said. “The flu has really hit us hard this week. We are looking forward to getting everyone who has been out back at practice.”
CCMS has a 3-0 record versus league opponents.
