Clear Creek will battle for a pair of league basketball championships.
The seventh-grade Bobcats and eighth-grade Lady Cats were victorious in their home semifinal matchups last week.
The Lady Cats met Lumpkin County last Wednesday, and a hot fourth quarter allowed Clear Creek to pull away for a 47-39 victory.
Lumpkin County stood in the Bobcats’ way as well, and the visiting Indians fell behind in the first quarter and never recovered. CCMS punched its title game ticket with a 44-34 win.
The seventh-grade Lady Cats also took the court versus Union County in the first round, and CCMS was eliminated by a 46-22 defeat.
Lady Cats
Lady Cat Mak Taylor scored 31 points, and she drained seven three pointers in the eighth-grade game. However, both teams got off to a sluggish start, and the Indians led 17-15 at the half.
Ally Phillips scored seven points in the third and hit a three pointer along with Taylor. Roise Everett added two points in the post to even the score at 27-all with a quarter to play.
Taylor sank four more threes in the fourth. A technical foul on LCMS appeared to swing the game in the Cats’ favor, and they went on to win by eight.
Union County came out hot in the seventh-grade game and never cooled off. The Panthers opened a 10-point lead after a quarter and only added to it from there.
Kristena Bailey led CCMS with nine points.
