Clear Creek softball earned two more wins.
The Cats hosted Lumpkin County Aug. 19, and the Indians slipped by for a 2-1 victory. CCMS was in Blue Ridge Aug. 26 and needed only three innings to crush Fannin County, 16-0.
The Cats also secured a nonleague win versus Gladden Aug. 17, 12-0.
Runs were tough to come by versus Lumpkin, and CCMS pitcher Braley Stewart struck out 12 Indians. A base hit gave LCMS a 1-0 lead in the first. The Cats responded in their half of the inning with a sacrifice bunt by Lily Teague to even the score.
It was not until the sixth that another run crossed the plate, and Lumpkin pulled ahead with a ground out.
Abby Murillo finished with two hits for the Cats.
Stewart hit inside the park home runs against Fannin in the first and third innings and drove in seven runs in the Cats’ lopsided win.
Her second came with the bases loaded and was part of a 10-run third inning. She also belted a two-run double, as did Murillo. Kali McCardle and Jocelyn McCollum drew bases loaded walks. Stewart and Neeyah McDaniel recorded three hits for the Cats, and Brenlee Daniel added two more.
Stewart struck out six and allowed one hit in the victory.
CCMS stole 12 bases versus Gladden. They drew two bases loaded walks and another Cat was hit by a pitch with the bases full. Maylee Bramlett had two hits on the day, and Stewart drove in three runs.
Stewart did not allow any hits over three innings and struck out eight. McCollum pitched a scoreless fourth inning and struck out one.
The CCMS B-team has 2-2 record, and they fell to Gladden, 6-5.
In their 13-3 Aug. 24 win over Lumpkin, coach Tina McDaniel noted, “Neeyah McDaniel, Syd Dillard and Maylee Bramlett doubled, and the rest of the team gave an outstanding performance on the base paths and in the field. Kaitlyn Bedwell pitched well giving up five total. Fielding was good overall, and we were able to hold them and add to the run total.”
Following the win, CCMS lost to North Hall, 17-5, and McDaniel believed fatigue played a factor.
The Cats smashed Fannin Aug. 26, 16-0. Teague doubled and tripled for CCMS, and Kensie Farmer doubled as well. Blair Whitaker, McKenly Holt, Dillard, McDaniel and Marla Ramsey all had singles for CCMS. Bedwell pitched and secured the win.
