Clear Creek Middle School met an old rival on the basketball court.
CCMS took on Fannin County last Tuesday, and the Bobcats were at home while the lady Cats traveled to play the Lady Rebels.
The seventh-grade Bobcats came away with a win on the day as eight players contributed points. Noah Rice and Kayson Taylor were the top scorers with 10 apiece, and Reece Bramlett added eight in the 46-30 win.
The eighth-grade Bobcats led early, but the Rebels were able to pull ahead in the third quarter and added to it in the fourth for a 45-31 victory. Andrew Chastain was the Cats’ top scorer with 12.
The seventh-grade Lady Cats fell behind 17-11 at the half, and trimmed Fannin’s lead to 25-23 with seven minutes to play. FCMS doubled the Cats’ points in the fourth and won, 39-31.
Kristena Baily scored 10 points for CCMS and Lola Howard added eight.
In the eighth-grade game, the Cats’ offensive nucleus included Ally Phillips and Morgan Palmeri with nine points each, and Mak Taylor added eight.
The Cats built a 16-13 halftime lead, but Fannin’s strong second half allowed the Rebels to hand CCMS its first loss of the year, 43-26.
