Region 7-3A announced its all-region volleyball and softball selections, and five Gilmer High Lady Cats were recognized.
Senior outside hitter Elly Callihan made the all-region volleyball squad for the third season in a row.
Infielder Macy Hamby and fellow junior catcher Maddie Wright were voted to the all-region first team. Senior infielder Taylor Elliott and junior outfielder Jacie Bennett received an honorable mention.
Callihan capped her season with 252 kills, 264 digs, 30 blocks and 12 assists. She is the program’s all-time kills leader with 872.
Wright was the Cats’ top hitter on the season and led the team with a .426 batting average, 26 hits, 15 runs scored and a .974 fielding percentage. She also had eight RBIs on the season.
Hamby batted .393 and led the Cats with 14 RBIs, eight doubles and two home runs to go with 15 runs scored.
Elliott finished with a .354 batting average, 23 hits, nine RBIs, seven doubles and scored eight runs.
Bennett was a defensive stalwart with a .962 fielding percentage and led GHS with five assists. Offensively, she hit .250, had 14 hits, scored 12 runs and drove in eight more.
