Lions salute county’s veterans with special lunch

The Ellijay Lions Club welcomed several hundred veterans and guests for lunch and fellowship on Veterans Day. Above, Ellijay Lions Bonnie Dixon, Susan Harden and Charlie Dixon serve barbecue and fixings to appreciative attendees. Below, Vietnam veteran Jim Findley enjoys lunch with his granddaughter, Hannah Wyman, and sleepy great-grandbaby, Coda Wyman. After lunch, Fred McGill, chaplain for Ellijay’s American Legion Post 82, shows his battlefield cross trailer recognizing different U.S. military branches. McGill pulled the display by motorcycle in the downtown Veterans Day parade. At bottom, Desert Storm veteran Roy Neville Jr. leafs through a scrapbook of photos that show his dad, World War II veteran Roy Neville Sr., during his time of service. Roy Sr., an Ellijay resident, passed away earlier this year at age 98.
