Thursday, Nov. 7

6 p.m. – Veterans Appreciation Dinner at Ellijay First Baptist Church.
All veterans and their spouses are invited.

Monday, Nov. 11

8:30 a.m. – Coffee and breakfast for all veterans and their families at Ellijay First United Methodist Church, no reservations are required.

10 a.m. – Formation for the parade.

10:30 a.m. – Parade, followed by an honorary service on the downtown Roundabout. This year’s ceremony will feature a musical tribute performed by the award-winning Gilmer High School Marching Band and Chorus, as well as the Ellijay Elementary School Chorus. Special guest speaker and Grand Marshall is the Honorable Jan Wheeler, Chief Juvenile Judge for the Appalachian Circuit. Major Wheeler is also a Veteran of the Georgia Army National Guard, having served during Operation Iraqi Freedom. Winners of various student essay and poster contests with a Veterans Day theme of ‘Freedom To Give’ will also be recognized.

Noon – Immediately following the service on the square, a free barbecue lunch will be served at the Ellijay Lions Club Fairgrounds and will be open to all veterans, active duty military and their families.

1:30 p.m. – Clear Creek Middle School Veterans Day Program with patriotic music and singing in their gymnasium.

2 p.m. – Parkside Ellijay will hold a Veterans Celebration for their residents.
