It’s time to get those floats and marching groups together for the annual Light Up Ellijay parade, which will take place the Friday after Thanksgiving, Nov. 29. This year’s parade will begin at 6 p.m. Floats, cars and individuals will follow the theme of “A Christmas Carol.”

Downtown Ellijay Business and Community Association president Damon Gabriel said the theme can mean the Charles Dickens Christmas story, the cartoon adaptation of that story or any Christmas carol. This year’s parade fee has been reduced to $10. All entries should be lighted.

Following the parade, the annual tree lighting will begin at approximately 6:30 p.m.

Snack and craft vendors will be set up on Broad Street and the Orchard Church will be sure that Santa Claus is available for visits and photos before and after the parade.

Applications for the parade and vendors are available at the Gilmer Chamber Downtown Ellijay Welcome Center, Artful Ellijay and Pets on Main.
