An Ellijay man has been charged in the death of his uncle.
Joshua Robert Weaver, 39, of Ellijay, was charged with murder and aggravated assault.
Another relative discovered Crate Hollis Weaver, 65, dead in the yard of a residence on Roy Road at 11:49 a.m. on April 22, and called 911, according to a press release from the Gilmer County Sheriff’s Office. The body had extensive visible injuries.
The Georgia Bureau of Investigation was called in to process the scene.
Captain Frank Copeland of the Gilmer County Sheriff’s Office said Weaver was in custody within minutes and charged within the hour.
More information was not available because evidence was still being processed, Copeland said.
Weaver was being held without bond.
