Roger Nelson Owen

Mr. Roger Nelson Owen, 78, died Friday, Dec. 30, 2022, at his residence.

He was born March 28, 1944, in Toccoa, to the late L.T. Owen and Ruby Owen.

He was a police lieutenant for 28 years for the city of Atlanta.

He was a graduate of Lavonia High School, class of 1962, and enjoyed motorcycle riding, golf, poker and traveling. He was a member of Oakman Baptist Church and was a member of the Faternal Order of Police.

He is preceded in death by wife, Bobbi Jean Reaid Owen.

He is survived by sister-in-law, Willie May Owen, of Toccoa; special friend and caregiver, Cheryle Schoeneman; and several nieces and nephews.

Memorial services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 11, 2023, from the chapel of Bernhardt Funeral Home.

The family will receive friends from noon until the service hour of 1 p.m.
