Ms. Vernice Reece

Ms. Vernice Reece, 72, of Ellijay, died Sunday, Nov. 7, 2021.

She was born in Gilmer County Feb. 22, 1949, to the late Lee Reece and Mae Mealer Reece.

She was a Gilmer High School graduate, class of 1967, and was a member of Ebenezer Baptist Church.

She is preceded in death by daughter, Rebecca Miolen; son, Stephen Smith; and sister, Frances Tarpley.

She is survived by sons, Patrick Smith (Leah), Danny Smith (Jessica), and Joey Smith (Jennifer); sister, Lois Davis Hyde; and grandchildren, Carter and Corbin Smith, and Sadie and Maizie Smith.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 13, 2021, at Ebenezer Baptist Church with the Rev. Michael Cantrell officiating.

Interment was in the church cemetery.

Pallbearers were Tony Davis, John Helton, Corbin Smith, Carter Smith, Brandon Davis and Tommy Tarpley.

Donations can be made to the Ebenezer Baptist Church Cemetery Fund.

Bernhardt Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
