The Georgia Apple Festival and its sister festival, Apple Arts on the Square, have been staples of north Georgia fall getaways for over 50 years. For these two weekends in October, families flock to Ellijay to experience the beautiful autumn colors of the Appalachia mountains and taste the best apples in the USA (we are partial). The Georgia Apple Festival is Ellijay’s largest event, attracting over 65,000 people a year for four days of art, crafts, entertainment and apple, well, everything! Apple dumplings fresh from the oven, apple fritters, fried apple pies, apple soaps and candles, apple crafts and apple cider are found scattered among 300+ artisans for you to explore.

Rising costs of simple operation are affecting everything, and sadly, we are no different. For the first time in years, we are having to increase our entrance fee to $10 for adults. However, there is FREE admission for those 12 and under.

There have also been some GOOD changes this year. New staff members including our Apple Festival manager, Natalie Knight, and our tourism director, Ron Cheslock, who are bringing fresh ideas and updates to the festival that will increase guest’s experience, while still maintaining that smalltown feel.  After all, quality artisans, and the overall family fun of the events are what bring people back year after year.  We have also made some much-needed updates to the grounds, including new roofing for the entrances, a new speaker system allowing us to offer entertainment and live music, plus more vendor booths and attractions!

If this is your first time visiting Ellijay in the fall, please visit us at the Downtown Welcome Center where our staff will be happy to assist you with maps and information about the area, including a long list of NEW businesses! Try out the Little Apple Mercantile shop, Arlowe’s Bakehouse, Ellijay Cigar Lounge, Rustic Roots Boutique, Das Kaffee Haus, Hey Baby! Boutique, Canoe Winery, High Mountain Bread and many other additions to our beloved town.

Thank you to our guests for coming to Ellijay and patronizing our businesses! I’d also like to say thank you to the hundreds of volunteers, organizations, businesses, individuals and our community who help make the Georgia Apple Festival possible with their support.

See you at the festival!
