John Arthur Igou

Mr. John Arthur Igou, 74, of Ellijay, died Monday, April 11, 2022.

He was born March 19, 1948, in Chattanooga, Tenn., to the late Earl Henry and Evelyn Almeda (Reneau) Igou.

He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Ellijay. He was a Medal of Honor recipient at the Chattanooga police department.

He is preceded in death by wife, Carol Hammontree Brown.

He is survived by children, Amy Williams and Patrick Hammontree, both of Buford.

A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Wednesday, April 20, 2022, at First United Methodist Church in Ellijay, with the Rev. Allan Tarr officiating.
