Mrs. Matilda Jane Long Ledford

Mrs. Matilda Jane (Long) Ledford, 87, of Blue Ridge, died Friday, Oct. 1, 2021.

She was born June 8, 1934, in Dial, to the late Coleman and Senia (Farmer) Long. She was a member of Cornerstone Baptist Church.

She is preceded in death by  daughter, Yvonne McNelley; sisters, Carrie Conley, Myrtle Long, Grace Painter, Betty Cochran and Willie Farmer; and brothers, John, Frank and Bunyon Long

She is survived by husband of 70 years, Thurston Eugene “Gene” Ledford; daughters, Monica Denise Ledford, of Cherry Log; son-in-law, Richard McNelley, of Blue Ridge and Joan Ledford Hembree, of Suwanee; grandchildren, Brandon Hembree, Ryan Hembree, Vanessa McNelley, Wesley McNelley and Chandler Ledford; sisters, Ruby Boone, of McDonough, Ruth Hawkins, of Murphy, N.C.; great-grandchildren, Hannah Hembree, Juliet Hembree, Sadie Hembree, Eliza Hembree, Grady Hembree, Eva McNelley and Rylie Springer; and nephews and nieces.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 5, 2021, at the Logan Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Monica D. Ledford and Vanessa McNelley officiating.

Interment was in the Boardtown Church of Christ Cemetery.
