‘My children are heroes’

Tiffany Paschal knew for months she was being “called” to be a foster parent, but she was struggling in prayer about it due to her husband’s life-altering injury. “It was absolutely a calling,” she affirmed. “I knew for six months before I even talked to James about it.

Resolution supporting Second Amendment passes

Gilmer County commissioners unanimously passed a resolution supporting the Second Amendment. The resolution came as the board was presented with a resolution and an ordinance by a group asking the commissioners to make Gilmer County a Second Amendment Sanctuary.

School-issued Chromebooks coming to Gilmer High

The 1:1 Chromebook Initiative began at Clear Creek Middle School and has made its way to Gilmer High. GHS principle Carla Foley made the announcement last Thursday, and the plan is to start issuing devices next month. Chromebooks are laptop computers that use a Linux-based Chrome operating system.

Board takes another lap with pool

Gilmer County Commission Chair Charlie Paris was ready to move ahead with the county pool. Bids have been let for the demolition of the current pool, and he wanted to go ahead and bid for the construction of the new pool, he said at a Feb. 12 work session.
