Jerry Hensley, Gilmer County’s coroner since 1991, announces his intent to seek re-election in the May 19 Republican Primary.  Hensley is a 1973 graduate of Gilmer High School and a 1974 graduate of Gupton-Jones College of Mortuary Science (now Gupton-Jones College of Funeral Service).

With the upcoming school closings March 16-20, the Gilmer Community Food Pantry board has decided to be open Wednesday to serve clients in a normal manner.  The board will meet Wednesday to determine what to do going forward. Snack Pack bags will be packed Monday.

Pool takes final shape

Gilmer County’s pool now has a final form. Plans for the pool were approved at a special called meeting March 6. Commissioners also made a change to their resolution of support for the Second Amendment.
