Gilmer CLC’s Run for the Son 5K set for May 4
The 13th annual Run for the Son 5K will be hosted by the Gilmer Christian Learning Center Saturday, May 4.
The 5K uses a USATF Certified course, and race day begins with packet pick up at 7 a.m. A 1-mile fun run will be at 8 a.m. and the 5K is set to start at 8:30 a.m.
There will be a Tot Trot, which is a 50-yard race for the youngest competitors at 9:20 a.m. After the races, there will be door prizes, food and fellowship.
Awards will be given to first-place finishers in the following categories: overall for both men and women, masters, five-year age groups from 10 and under through 65-plus and to the team that has the most members show up.
The Gilmer CLC is a nonprofit organization that offers free Bible classes to public school students, as well as counseling and mentor programs at no charge to students and families.
“We hope to use our 5K to raise awareness about CLC and to raise funds so we can continue helping students and families and expand our programming,” a press release states.
Everyone who pre-registers for the 5K will get a free T-shirt. Registration can be completed at Gilmerclc.org. There are five sponsorship levels available, and those interested can call 706-635-7100.
