Mrs. Annetta Burgher Bunch
Mrs. Annetta Burgher Bunch, 97, of Ellijay, died Tuesday, July 2, 2019, at the Rock Creek Manor in Jasper.
She was born Sept. 12, 1921, in Tennessee to the late James and Sadie Burgher. She was a 1938 graduate of Russellville High School and attended Bowling Green University for two years. She was the co-owner and editor of the Times-Courier in Ellijay since 1967. She was a member of First United Methodist Church of Ellijay, the 2003 Gilmer County co-citizen of the year, and was one of the charter members of the Garden Club of Ellijay.
She is preceded in death by husband, George Nixon Bunch Jr.
She is survived by children and in-laws, George III and Sheri Bunch, of Ellijay, Lou Anne and Jack Nunn Jr., of Ellijay; grandchildren, Jessica and Douglas Johnston, George Nixon Bunch IV, Brittany Anne Padgett; great-grandchildren, Alexis Duncan, Douglas A. Duncan Jr.; brother, James Hardy Burgher, of Kentucky; and several extended family members.
Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. Saturday, July 6, 2019, from the First United Methodist Church of Ellijay with Dr. Thom Shores, Mark Millican and the Rev. Alan Tarr officiating.
Interment was in the Ellijay City Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Nixon Bunch, Douglas Johnston, Keith Nunn, Joe McCutcheon, Lex Rainey, D’Wayne Fowler, Daniel Burgher, Mark Millican and Jaxon West.
