Leon Dan Hood
Mr. Leon Dan Hood, 86, of Ellijay, died Thursday, Aug 9, 2018, at the Cartersville Heights Nursing Home.
He was born May 14, 1932, in Ellijay, to the late Dan S. Hood and Lola Bell Starks Hood. He served honorably in the United States Army, Navy and Air Force during the Korean War era and was a member of Mt. Paran Church of God in Atlanta. He received his law degree from John Marshall Law School and was self employed as a contractor in addition to owning a janitorial business.
He is preceded in death by son, Dan P. Hood; and stepson, Glen McAvoy.
He is survived by wife, Johnette Johnian Hood; daughters and sons-in-law, Valerie (Darrell) Althouse, of Powder Springs, Leona Hood Farnell, of Marietta, and Lorelle (Ken) LoCurto, of Kennesaw.
He was a loving Papaw to his many grandchildren, Jeremy (JD) Josey, Evan and Kara Althouse, Lauren (Lance) Bedwell, Glen and Iain McAvoy, Colin, Ashtyn, Christopher and John LoCurto; great-grandchildren, Ayden Robertson, Braeden and Brodey Bedwell and Adalie McAvoy.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 14, 2018, from the Logan Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Todd Rainwater officiating.
Music was by Gregory Leon Dowdy.
Military graveside rites were performed by the North Georgia Honor Guard.
Pallbearers were JD Josey, Evan Althouse, Glen McAvoy, Iain McAvoy, Colin LoCurto and Christopher LoCurto.
Interment was at 2 p.m. in the Georgia National Cemetery in Canton.
