Grady ‘Bug’ Starks
Mr. Grady “Bug” Starks, 94, of Ellijay, died Sunday, Jan. 7, 2018, at his residence.
He was born Sept. 8, 1923, in Ellijay. He was a member of New Hope Baptist Church. During his career, Bug worked for Ballew Sawmills, Ernest Silvers Service Station, the Ellijay Spinning Mill and at Robert Shaw Controls.
He is preceded in death by wife, Lillie Mae Bramlett Starks; parents; and brothers, Jack Starks and Jeff Starks.
He is survived by daughters, Glenda S. Starks and Shirley Starks Goedert, both of Ellijay; grandchildren and in-law, Greg Goedert and Leslie and Chris Woods; great-grandchildren, Jonathan Goedert, Lily Goedert, Shelby Woods and Larkin Woods; sisters and brothers-in-law, Imogene Starks, Ruby and Roy Wright, Ruth Rogers Starks, Betty and Winston Frady, Jessie and David Pierce, and Wanda and Phillip Pankey; brother and sister-in-law, Charles and Ruth Starks and Billy Starks, all of Ellijay.
Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 10, 2018, from New Hope Baptist Church with the Rev. Brian Clayton and the Rev. Steve Jones officiating.
Music will be by the New Hope Baptist Church Choir.
Interment will be in the New Hope Baptist Church Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Alan Davenport, Keith Logan, Larry Bramlett, Roland Harrison, Herbert Wright, Phillip Pankey, Alan Starks, and Danny Frady.
Honorary pallbearers will be David Pierce, Larry Starks, Roger Higdon, Greg Martin, Buford Withrow, Gerald Starks, Bobby Wright, Ed Casey, Michael Starks, Lloyd Sumner, Marvin Serritt, Tim Starks and Larry Walker.
Flowers are acceptable, or donations can be made to the New Hope Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, c/o Edgar Land, 824 Tails Creek Road, Ellijay, GA 30540 in memory of Mr. Starks.
