Eugene “Gene” Joseph Grandolfi
Mr. Eugene “Gene” Joseph Grandolfi, 88, of Ellijay, died Wednesday, July 13, 2016. He was born Aug. 11, 1927, in Ardsley, N.Y., to the late Frank Joseph and Mary Bianco Grandolfi. He was an honorably discharged U.S. Navy veteran who served during World War II. He was a graduate of Ardsley High School, class of 1944, and retired from DuraCell Battery Inc., after 50 years of employment. He was of the Catholic faith.
He is preceded in death by wife, Helen Mary Grandolfi; sisters, Christine Galetta and Mary Galetta; and brother, John Grandolphi.
He is survived by daughters and son-in-law, Vicki and Greg Verego, of Ellijay, Patricia Toni Mitchell, of Hartford, Conn.; grandchildren, Clint Mitchell, Mallory Mitchell, Jennifer (Jason) Collier; and great-grandchildren, Riley Collier, Reese Collier and Mason Mitchell.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, July 16, 2016, from the Logan Funeral Home Chapel with Father Carlos Vargas officiating.
Military honors followed in the Logan Funeral Home Pavilion with rites performed by the North Georgia Honor Guard.
Entombment service was held in the Forest Hills Cemetery in Lexington, N.C., at 2 p.m., Monday, July 18, 2016.
