Gilmer GOP committee members attend Trump Inauguration
Members of the Gilmer GOP County Committee received ticketed seats to attend the Inauguration of Donald J. Trump as president of the United States.
Those in attendance representing the Gilmer County Republican Party were Stephen Aaron, county chairman; Joshua Aaron, Cartecay Precinct chairman; and Brad Simmons, Ellijay South Precinct chairman.
Stephen and Joshua Aaron attended the Texas Inaugural Gala, meeting many Republicans from all over the nation.
“It was a fantastic event that showed the truly peaceful transfer of power in our Republic,” Joshua said.
Stephen added, “The air at the Inauguration on Friday was truly electric in the crowd at the foot of the Capitol where we were. It was truly diverse, with people from all walks of life, creeds, races, ages and religions. There was respect toward President Obama, as he handed the baton of leadership over to then President-elect Trump.
“At one point, during a gap in the ceremony, I heard a thunderous sound coming from behind me, and I turned and saw a sea of people chanting ‘USA, USA’ all the way back to the Lincoln Memorial. If there is one great thing about our republic, it is that we may disagree on issues, but overall we remain civil in our disagreements.”
Every member of the Gilmer GOP on the trip said they were energized and uplifted about the direction the country with a unified Republican government.
The Gilmer County Republican Party is the official arm of the Republican National Committee and the Georgia Republican Party. For more information, email email@example.com.
