Woman charged with rape
A Gilmer County woman was arrested for allegedly having sexual relations with a 14-year-old boy after authorities investigated a complaint filed by the boy’s mother, according to a sheriff’s office incident report.
Alaska Bell Himelfarb, 19, of 489 Oxford Drive, was charged Oct. 16 with felony statutory rape.
Officer Mitchell Massingill stated that the “caller” to 911 said “her 14-year-old son was forced ... to do sexual things” by an older female. Himelfarb was visiting the home of a friend on Chatsworth Highway when the incident allegedly occurred with one of the friend’s brothers.
Himelfarb had been texting two of her friend’s brothers and “flirting,” the report states. When she was staying at the friend’s home on Oct. 15, she approached the 14-year-old between the hours of 10:18 p.m. and 11:24 p.m. while a family meeting was going on in an upstairs dining room.
“I was trying ... (to) get her to let me go back upstairs, but she pulled me into my brother’s room and started trying to convince me to have sex,” Massingill said the boy told investigators. “I was trying to leave and tell her no, but she finally got me to do it with her. One thing led to another and that was it.”
Massingill gave the mother a “victim’s pamphlet” and explained the resources that were available to the family, including counseling. When officers arrived at the Ellijay restaurant where Himelfarb worked the next day and asked her if anything had happened between her and the boy, she replied, “Yeah, we had sex” and that she was sorry.
“Alaska said she didn’t actually want to do anything, and that it was him wanting to,” Massingill wrote. “I then asked her if she tried to force him off of her and she said that she did. She said he said, ‘Come on, you know we both want to.’ She said, ‘Come on, we can’t, you are my best friend’s little brother and that would be wrong.’”
Himelfarb was taken into custody at the restaurant. She was released on a $1,000 bond on Oct. 17.
