Gilmer High School to graduate 291
The Gilmer High School Class of 2019 commencement exercises will be held Friday, May 24, at Huff-Mosley Memorial Stadium, rain or shine.
Guests are encouraged to wear Sunday apparel and are reminded that this is a dignified event for graduates. Small children must be attended to and need to sit with their parents. The stadium is part of a tobacco-free campus and no pets are permitted inside the stadium.
Spectators may enter the stadium through the main/upper gate or through the lower gate, as seating will be available on both sides of the stadium. There is no fee for entry, and no tickets are required to attend. The gates will open promptly at 6 p.m. for guests. There will be no early entry for guests before 6 p.m. for any reason.
Complimentary shuttle buses will be running for guests parking in the Gilmer High School and Mountain View Elementary parking lots and the Civic Center. All seating, including the purple patron seats, will be on a first-come, first-served basis.
The exercises will begin promptly at 7 p.m. Once the exercises begin, the focus will be on the field, and guests should arrive early to locate seats.
It is recommended that guests bring a blanket or stadium seats to sit on during the event. Guests are reminded that their cooperation is appreciated as they help enhance the dignity of the event. Anyone who arrives in a state of intoxication will be denied entry. Please remember that this event is for all members of the class of 2019, not individuals. As such, law enforcement officers will remove anyone who becomes excessively noisy, boisterous or disruptive during the ceremony.
It is requested all cellphones and electronic devices be turned off or at the least, be placed on silent for the duration of the commencement exercises. No student should be using a cellphone during the commencement exercises.
Special needs and photography
Handicapped parking will be available in the upper parking lot at the stadium.
The commencement exercises will be videotaped and will air live on ETC. Pictures will be made available through Legacy.
