Ellijay native Chuck Reece will be the keynote speaker at the 39th annual meeting of the Gilmer Chamber of Commerce set for Thursday, Jan. 18, at 11:30 a.m. in the fellowship hall of First Baptist Church.
The board of directors and ambassadors will be recognized, and the chairman’s gavel will be passed to Trent Sanford. The moments everyone will be waiting for, however, will be the naming of the citizen of the year (a lifetime achievement award), business of the year and Gilmer Chamber member of the year.
Reece is the editor and co-founder of The Bitter Southerner e-newsletter and website (bittersoutherner.com).
The cost for the annual meeting is $25 per person. All members are encouraged to attend to network and celebrate. Nonmembers are allowed to attend as well. Reservations are required by visiting www.gilmerchamber.com, calling 706-635-7400 or by coming by the office before Thursday, Jan. 11.
The event will also serve as a special kickoff to the yearlong celebration of the Gilmer Chamber’s 40th anniversary.
