Woman charged in fatal accident

An Ellijay woman is being charged with homicide by vehicle and driving under the influence in a one-vehicle accident Jan. 28 in which she was injured and her passenger
killed.

Heather Cregger, 34, of Ellijay, is charged with felony homicide by vehicle in the first degree, driving under the influence of alcohol, possession of marijuana, failure to drive within a single lane and a seat belt violation. 

A 2009 Toyota Camry she was driving went off an embankment, rolled and struck a tree off Chatsworth Highway near Moonlight Lane at 8:32 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 28, according to a report from the Georgia State Patrol.

Cregger was partially ejected from the vehicle and injured.

Kenneth Jarrett, 40, of Ball Ground, who was a passenger, died, according to the report.

Cregger was charged Jan. 1. She was released on a $9,000 bond.
