Hauester and Yacavone, residents of Clearwater, Fla., traveled north to Ellijay to participate in the Quilt Trail. Similar to a scavenger hunt, the celebration of mountain quilting has participants searching for wooden quilt squares scattered throughout downtown Ellijay. Hauester said she first heard about the activity while attending her high school reunion in Kentucky and later found out about the local Quilt Trail by searching for similar activities online.
