Gilmer track completed the first leg of state qualification last week at the Region 7-4A meet in Dalton. The Bobcats and Lady Cats both finished sixth out of eight teams and combined to qualify in 11 events for Saturday’s Class 4A sectional meet. The Bobcats topped out at 56 team points and the Lady Cats scored 63.

Carver, Bobcats cut down Canes
It may go down as one of the biggest wins of the Gilmer High School baseball program. Behind a complete game pitching performance by senior Mayson Carver, the Bobcats downed region foe Cartersville 3-1 at home last Thursday. The following day, GHS beat the Southeast Whitfield Raiders 2-1 for its first region road win of the season.
