Local woman represents own tribe, indigenous people at U.N. forum
An Ellijay woman who describes herself as “a grassroots advocate for the rights of indigenous people” recently served as a delegate to the United Nations during the international human rights organization’s Fourteenth Session of the Permanent Forum on Indigenous Issues. The forum was held April 20 to May 1 at the U.N.’s New York headquarters.
