Proclamation — ‘Child abuse is a community problem’
Each year about 4 million children are reported abused, neglected and abandoned in the United States. More than 400 of the kids represented by that statistic were in Gilmer County last year, according to figures found in a proclamation signed Monday, April 13, by Charlie Paris, chairman of the Gilmer County Board of Commissioners, designating April as Child Abuse Prevention and Awareness Month.
