GHS senior swimmers celebrated at final home basketball games
Prior to last Tuesday’s final home basketball game, Gilmer High School recognized its four senior swimmers.
Sydney Berry has been a member of the swim team for one season. She is captain of FCA and on the leadership team of First Baptist Church’s youth group. She has earned an academic letter and is an honor roll student. She plans to enroll in premedicine at the University of North Georgia, earn her doctorate and become an OB/GYN while doing mission work along the way.
Harley Faye Davis has been on the swim team for two seasons. After high school, she plans to attend college and one day open a program for special education students.
Leila Farist has been a member of the swim team for three years. She qualified for the state meet as a junior and senior, and has earned an academic and swimming letter. She is a member of United Community Bank’s Junior Board of Directors, the Math Honors Society, First Baptist Church youth group and the Carpet Capital Aquatic Club.
Farist is a UGA Certificate of Merit recipient and honor roll student. After high school, she plans to attend UGA or Mercer to pursue a degree in pharmacy.
James Maxwell has been swimming for 10 years, which includes three for GHS. He is a member of the Fishing Club, and ran track as a sophomore and qualified for the state swim meet the last three years. After high school, he plans to go to flight school and become a pilot after earning an HVAC license.
