Gilmer High Bobcat cross-country takes second place in Blairsville
The Gilmer High School cross-country team headed to Meek’s Park in Union County last week for the Run the Mountains Race.
The field was made up of seven teams and the Bobcats placed second while the Lady Cats took fourth.
“Union changed the course a little this season,” said GHS coach April Nicholson. “It included a few more hills and was more challenging for the runners. Overall, we are very pleased with their performance and are looking forward to the War Eagle Invitational Tuesday.”
Gilmer’s top five runners and scorers were Carlos Cruz (18:59.40, sixth overall), Josh Teague (20:13.36, ninth), Bryce Bowen (20:14.33, 10th), Josh Barker (20:39.38, 15th) and Dylan Scates (20:50.41).
For the Lady Cats, Naomi Coombs finished second overall in 23.07. She was followed by Ashley Spagnola (24:35), Norma Solis (25:31), Grace Pleasant (26:43) and Chloe Hensley (34:45) rounding out the top five.
GHS traveled to Chestatee Middle School at press deadline for the 13th annual War Eagle Invitational.
