William Hollifield

Mr. William Hollifield, 87, of Morganton, formerly of Ellijay, died Friday, July 29, 2022, at his residence.

He was born June 5, 1935, in Gilmer County, to the late John Holifield and Ora Jones Hollifield. He was employed by Shaw Industries and was a member of Rock Creek Baptist Church and was a United States Army veteran.

He is preceded in death by wife, Claudine Rogers Hollifield; brothers, Bobby Hollifield, Tom Hollifield, Paul Hollifield and David Hollifield.

He is survived by sons, David Rogers, of Blue Ridge, and Jeff (Rhonda) Hollifield, of Ellijay; daughters and sons-in-law, Peggy (Jon) Carnes, of Ellijay and Billie (Dellon) Ash, of Blue Ridge; sisters, Ruby G. Miles and Bertha Davidson, both of Ellijay; grandchildren, Brent Robinson, Dianna Ash, Crystal Sabaua, and Laura Ash; and great-grandchild, Sophia Ash.

Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 2, 2022, from Rock Creek Baptist Church with the Rev. John Newton and the Rev. Tony Gilbert officiating.

Interment was in the church cemetery.

Pallbearers were Brian Roper, William Cantrell, Mark Hice, Avery Hice, Tim Miller and Mark Washam.

Bernhardt Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
