Mr. Sanson Leroy Watkins, 81, of Talking Rock, died Tuesday, Nov. 19, 2019, at his residence.

He was born Dec. 13, 1937, in Blue Ridge, to the late Christopher C. and Geneva Bradburn Watkins. He was a member of the Flat Creek Baptist Church and retired from the Georgia Marble Whitestone division after 43 years. 

He is preceded in death by  son, Marvin Watkins; sister, Sue W. Carroll; grandchild, Christy Fleming and great-grandchild, Penelope Hefner.

He is survived by wife, Mary E. Watkins; children and in-laws, Sheila (Mark) Harper, Michael (Kathy) Watkins, all of Ellijay, Eugene (Robin) Watkins, of Talking Rock; seven grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; siblings, Sadie W. Etheridge, of Ellijay, Virginia W. Crider, of Dalton, Vay W. Davenport, of Cherry Log, Lee Watkins, of Ranger; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Friday, Nov. 22, 2019, from the Logan Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Wallace Parks and the Rev. Eugene Davis officiating. Music was by Elridge Silvers.

Interment followed in the Flat Creek Baptist Church Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Daniel Davenport, Ryan Fogerty, Josh Watkins, Chris Hefner, Clinton Etheridge Jr. and Gary Bramlett.
