Ruel E. Reece
Mr. Ruel E. Reece, 88, of Ellijay, died Wednesday, Feb. 3, 2016.
He was born June 4, 1927, in Gilmer County to the late Boyd Jackson and Lemma Lorenza Ralston Reece. He was graduate of Ellijay High School class of 1946, a farmer, a veteran serving with the U.S. Army and a deacon of Ebenezer Baptist Church.
He is preceded in death by brothers, Carl Reece, Hayward Reece, Kermit Reece and Estes Reece; sisters, Oleeta R. Sales, Jewell Reece Heath and Wylene Reece.
He is survived by wife of 54 years, Ruth Ann Teague Reece; son and daughter-in-law, Ray and Leslie Ann Reece, of Ellijay; daughter and son-in-law, Rhonda and Kent Sanford, of Ellijay; brother, B.J. Reece, of Ellijay; sister, Louise Bradshaw, of Gainesville; sisters-in-law and brothers in-law, Ellen Reece, of Ellijay, Sara Reece, of South Carolina, Herbert and Lou Ann Teague, of Ellijay, Leo and Kathy McKee, of Alma, Ark.; grandchildren, Justin Banks, Brady Banks, Reece and Kerri Ann Sanford, Caitlin Sanford, Courtney and Damon Smith.
Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 6, from Ebenezer Baptist Church with the Rev. Russell Burt, the Rev. Billy Dotson and the Rev. John Reece officiating.
Music was by the church choir.
Pallbearers were Kevin Reece, Andrew Heath, James David Reece, Brian McKee, Harold McKee, Steve Bradshaw and Mike Sales.
Interment was in the church cemetery with military rites by the North Georgia Honor Guard.
