Roy Wilburn Milton
Mr. Roy Wilburn Milton, 74, of Dalton, formerly of Ellijay, died Monday, Dec. 12, 2016, at his residence.
He was born April 22, 1942, in Ellijay to the late Clay Milton and the late Edith Harper Robison.
He was a graduate of North Whitfield High School, class of 1962, and was formerly employed with the Blue Ridge Carpet Mill. He was an honorably discharged Korean War veteran who served in the U.S. Army.
He is preceded in death by wife, Evelyn Christina “Cricket” Ponder Milton; and son, David Milton.
He is survived by nieces, Melanie Milton Flood and Tara R. Panter, both of Dalton; brother, Johnny Darrell Milton, of Dalton; stepchildren, Rhonda Parks, of Ellijay, Donald Parks, of Calhoun; brothers-in-law, Bobby Ponder, of Ellijay, Glen Ponder, of Ellijay; sisters-in-law, Pat Moore, of Calhoun, Judy Mann, of Jasper, Maxine Little, of Ellijay; several grandchildren, nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Friday, Dec. 16, 2016, at the Logan Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Wallace Parks officiating.
A military graveside service immediately followed in the Logan Funeral Home Pavilion with military rites performed by the North Georgia Honor Guard.
Interment followed in the Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Keith Milton, Jackie Abercrombie, Joseph Wyant, Coty Birch, Murphy R. Flood and Bobby Ponder.
