Ronnie Fred Thompson
Mr. Ronnie Fred Thompson, 67, of Ellijay, died Tuesday, Jan. 23, 2018, at his residence.
He was born Sept. 28, 1950, in Ellijay.
He graduated from Gilmer High School, class of 1968, and went on to attend the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga.
He was a member of Whitestone Baptist Church and owned and operated the Ronnie Thompson Ford dealership in Ellijay. He was inducted into the Gilmer County Sports Hall of Fame and served for many years on the Gilmer County School Board.
He is preceded in death by father, Fred Cecil Thompson.
He is survived by wife of 35 years, Vicki Holloway Thompson; daughter and son-in-law, Jessi and Doug Lofland, of Woodstock; sons and daughter-in-law, Bobby Lee Thompson and Heath and Kristen Thompson, all of Ellijay; special niece, Samantha and Jacob Callihan, of Ellijay; grandchildren and in-law, Sawyer and Joelleigh Thompson, Olivia Thompson, Kenley Thompson, Khloe Thompson, Kamryn Thompson, Ryan Lofland, Kiley Callihan, Bubba Callihan and Sarah Jane Callihan; mother, Cleo Young Thompson, of Ellijay; sisters, Patsy Thompson Davenport, of Ellijay, and Linda Thompson King, of Jasper; brother and sisters-in-law, James and Flondell Thompson of Jasper, and Melinda Holloway Hadden, of Ellijay; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 27, 2018, from the Logan Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Chris Henson, the Rev. James Thompson, Lucy Harris and Samantha Callihan officiating.
Music was by Joy Hice and Gary Wilson.
Interment followed in the Ellijay City Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Dustin Harper, Corey Thompson, Cody Thompson, Ronnie Burgess, Keith Bramlett, Robert Westmoreland, Douglas McClure, Lance Bramlett, Lucas Bramlett, Benny Adams, Donnie Barnes and Ricky Hutson.
Honorary pallbearers were the employees of Ronnie Thompson Ford and Ronnie’s GHS teammates and coaches from the classes of 1965, 1966, 1967 and 1968.
