Robert F. “Andy” Anderson
Mr. Robert F. (Andy) Anderson, of Covington, died Wednesday, June 1, 2016, at Abbey Hospice in Social Circle.
He was born in Ellijay to the late William and Carrie Anderson.
He is preceded in death by brother, Clarence Anderson, of Blue Ridge.
He retired from General Motors with over 30 years of service, and was an entrepreneur for over 50 years at DeKalb Marine, Inc. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and was loved by all who knew him.
He had a special sense of humor, and when someone asked how he was doing, he would say “always pretty, good was debatable.”
He was a great storyteller and loved fishing and hunting. He was a longtime member and deacon at Harvest Baptist Church where he never met a stranger.
He is survived by loving wife of 61 years, Joyce Yancey Anderson, of Covington; children, Edward Porter II (Susan), of Orange City, Fla., Robert Anderson Jr. “Bob” (Cindy), of Covington, Steve Emerick (Allison), of Statham, Reza Baraji (Lisa), of Marietta; sisters, Frances McClure, of Dalton, Marie Dews, of Johns Creek; sister-in-law, Betty Anderson, of Blue Ridge; twin brother, Floyd Anderson, of Ellijay; nine grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Services were held at 1 p.m. Saturday, June 4, 2016, at Wheeler Funeral Home with the Rev. Richard Culpepper officiating.
Interment was in Lawnwood Memorial Park, Covington.
