Rev. Clayton Brothers
The Rev. Clayton Brothers, 89, of Ellijay, left this Earth Monday, Aug. 13, 2018, to be with the Lord.
He was born Sept. 16, 1928, in Gadsden, Ala., the third of seven children of William Dan and Maggie Inez Bickers Brothers. He served in the U.S. Navy and was a retired postmaster in Marietta and Lawrenceville, and a retired Baptist minister in Ellijay.
He was a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church. He served with Habitat for Humanity, Larry Burkett Ministries and Mountaintown Baptist Association.
He is preceded in death by parents; daughter, Mary Katherine Floyd; sister, Maude Brothers Reid; and brothers, Dan, John, Bill and Sidney.
He is survived by wife of 66 years, Jane Tolbert Brothers; daughters and sons-in-law, Becki and Paul Taylor, of Ellijay, Rachael and Tony Pittman, of Hiram; sons, Tim Brothers and Steve Brothers, both of Ellijay; sister, Dot Davidson of South Carolina; granddaughters, Michelle Waldrop, Dawn Bray, Angela Bray and Danielle Figueroa; five great-grandchildren, Lauren, Lendy, Skye, Lane and Katie; special caregivers, Kathi McCollum, Carolyn Parks, Phyllis Low, Marissa Seymore and Paige Ramey; and numerous extended family members.
His memory will be carried on by the many people whose lives he touched.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Friday from the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church with the Rev. Dan Rosser and the Rev. Ruben Smith officiating.
Music was by the church choir, men’s quartet and Karen Buchanan.
Pallbearers were nephews.
Interment was in the Yukon Cemetery.

Bernhardt Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
