Nolan Cecil Gentry
Mr. Nolan Cecil Gentry, 92, of Jasper, died Tuesday, Oct. 10, 2017.
He was born Feb. 15, 1925, in Cobb County, to the late James Harlan and Lula Jane Burtz Gentry.
He graduated from Mountainview High School, joined the U.S. Navy, serving our nation in World War II in the South Pacific aboard the USS Bunkerhill and on Bougainville Island where he saw action in battle.
He was honorably discharged in 1946 and later was employed by General Motors Corp where he worked as a utility man. He retired after 26 years.
He served as a committee man for the UAW and was a member of the Cartecay United Methodist Church.
He is preceded in death by brother, James A. Gentry; sisters, Jeanette Reece and Faye Beavers.
He is survived by wife of 72 years, Mary Phillips Gentry; son and daughter-in-law, Bo and Tish Gentry; grandchildren and spouses, Gary Carter and Shannon Gentry, Mary Beth and Michael Fowler; great-grandchildren, Addie, Carter, Charlotte, Ella, Pearl and Ray.
Services will be announced at a later date.
