Mrs. Rachel Penland Holt

Mrs. Rachel Penland Holt, 88, of Ellijay, died Thursday, May 5, 2022, at her residence.

She was born Feb. 9, 1934, in Gordon County, to the late D.G. “Dock” Penland and Angie Shirley Penland.

She was a housewife and a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church.

She is preceded in death by husband, Howard Holt.

She is survived by son, Wayne (Dianne) Holt, of Ellijay; daughter, Edith Weaver, of Ellijay; six grandchildren, Mandy (Adam) Banks, Kevin (Lindsey) Holt, Janna (Leeman) Teague, Joseph (Allison) Holt, Melissa (Luke) Mooney, and Adam (Amanda) DeBoard; 10 great-grandchildren; and special caregivers, Shawdee Pope, Shirley McDowell, Hazel Ray and Janet Chambers.

Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. Sunday, May 8, 2022, from Mt. Zion Baptist Church with the Rev. Gerald Siniard officiating.

Interment was in the Mt. Zion Baptist Church cemetery.

Pallbearers were Adam Banks, Kevin Holt, Adam DeBoard, Luke Mooney, Leeman Teague and Joseph Holt.

Bernhardt Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
