Mrs. Mavis Omelene Mathis Edmondson
Mrs. Mavis Omelene Mathis Edmondson, 83, of Ellijay, died Tuesday, May 30, 2017, at her home surrounded by her children.
She was born Oct. 26, 1933, to the late Ensley Homer Mathis and Velva Lowman Mathis. She was one of seven children, including the late Ranell Mathis, and Mabel Mathis.
She was a homemaker, retired from Robertshaw Controls after 22 years of service and was a 61-year member of New Liberty Baptist Church.
She is preceded in death by husband of 42 years, Willard Edmondson.
She is survived by son, Danny Edmondson, of Ellijay; daughter, Debbie Edmondson Brandenberg and husband, Kenny, of Ellijay; granddaughter, Chrystal Trent and husband, Russell, of Blue Ridge; greatgranddaughter, Krislyn Annette, of Blue Ridge; brothers, Roy and wife, Sara Mathis, of Mableton, Reggie Mathis, of Rossville, Ronnie and wife, Tina Mathis, of Clarksville and Ruel and wife, Becky Mathis, of Mableton; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and special friends.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Friday, June 2, 2017, in the chapel of Bernhardt Funeral Home with the Rev. Billy Cantrell, the Rev. Bill Nealey and the Rev. Steven Chapman officiating.
Music was by Darryl and Sharon Rogers.
Pallbearers were Russel Trent, Ken Marshall, Jeff Mathis, Floyd Edmondson, Kent Mathis and Danny Edmondson.
Interment was in the New Liberty Baptist Church Cemetery.
