Mrs. Hazel Plemmons Jackson
Mrs. Hazel Plemmons Jackson, 97, of Ellijay, died Monday, Aug. 13, 2018.
She was born Sept. 25, 1920, in Gilmer County, to the late Chris and Nellie Harris Plemmons. She worked as a secretary for many years and was a member of New Hope Baptist Church.
She is preceded in death by siblings; husband, Dewey Jackson; and son, Jimmy Starks.
She is survived by stepdaughters, Janeice Long, of Cartersville, Joyce Denard, of Powder Springs, Jo Lynn O’Reilly, of Alpharetta, sister; Lillie Land, of Ellijay; two grandchildren, Matthew Starks, Chris and Megan Starks; mother of the grandchildren; Bonnie Gibson; six great-grandchildren, Landon, Sadie, Ashlyn, Ava, Aubree and Daniel; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 18, 2018, from the chapel of Bernhardt Funeral Home with the Rev. Steve Jones officiating.
Music was Brent Land, Del and Evelyn Green.
Pallbearers and honorary pallbearers were James Holloway, Randal Ponder, Brent Land, Ceylon Plemmons, Darryl Miller, Tim Miller, Michael Miller, Larry Callahan, John Plemmons, George Plemmons, Benny Holloway, Buren Hyde and Pearl Withrow.
Interment was in the New Hope Baptist Church Cemetery.
